The Million Reasons Why We Choose Bamboo?
When our daughter Emily was born in 2015, my Aunt returned from Hawaii with a blanket for her. It was in the softest material I had ever felt. I checked the label and noted it was made of Bamboo. Not knowing anything about bamboo, I started looking into its properties and was astounded by its benefits. At that point I started buying bamboo clothing for myself, but there were none on the market for babies.
Coincidently my daughter was diagnosed with an eye condition just a few month later. It required eye occlusion therapy, meaning one eye had to be patched for 8 hours every day. I was advised to only use Bamboo patches on my daughters eyes as they are hypoallergenic and the softest most gentle material for delicate skin.
I already knew Bamboo’s benefits to the environment but once I knew it was being used to be put on babies’ faces (all day long) for medical purposes, I felt certain there was a gap in the market for a baby bamboo brand. I spent the next year and a half researching and obsessing over the perfect design!
Our Signature Baby Soft Bamboo Blend is to cotton what cashmere is to wool – it is softer and has a more luxurious feel. Its stretch and (the design of our Sleepeaz) means it will last your little one up to three times longer than the average baby grow.
Bamboo also has a significant range of other benefits:
Regulates Our Body Temperature
Our agreements are made from bamboo which actually regulates your child’s body temperature. Every fiber has a built-in thermostat, in the form of micro-gaps, which aid ventilation. Meaning they trap cool air in the summer and warm air in the winter. Bamboo is moisture-wicking to keep your baby dry, and keep your baby a few degrees cooler than cotton in the Summer, and a few degrees warmer in the Winter.
Bamboo contains a bio-agent called bamboo-kun that reduces the risk of any irritation or allergic reactions. Making it perfect for the most sensitive of skin, and ideal for babies and children.
No chemicals or pesticides are used in the growth or production of Bamboo, this can also help prevent skin irritations that can flare up with other chemically treated fabrics.
Bamboo naturally repels odours and allergens. It actually kills and inhibits germs and bacteria.
Natural UV Protection
Bamboo has UV protection built in, to protect your little ones from any harmful rays.
Bamboo fabric absorbs moisture away from your skin, keeping your little one drier. It is also anti-static.
Bamboo is a highly sustainable plant and is becoming an increasingly popular alternative to cotton, not only because of its amazing properties which are kind to you.
It releases 35% more oxygen into the atmosphere than hardwood trees.
Bamboo grows naturally without using any pesticides or fertilisers
Bamboo only needs rain water to grow. Very little, if any, additional water is ever required.
One acre of Bamboo will yield 10 times more than 1 acre of cotton.
Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world, so yields more often from the same plot.
As a grass, bamboo is cut not uprooted, so is good for soil – particularly as it can grow on slopes not viable for other crops.
A Regenerating Resource
The miracle of Bamboo is, it never needs replanting. Cotton needs harvesting and re-planting every year, whereas bamboo regenerates and will grow up to 4 ft. every day being fully harvestable within 3-4 years, without the aid of any chemicals or fertilisers.
All this makes Bamboo one of the most eco-friendly resources on the planet!
